About that 2020 Election “Audit” in Nevada

(Annie Black) – The early results of my BattleGround ’22 Election Survey have been interesting, with a few surprises.  And many of your comments, opinions and advice have been extremely helpful.

Thank you!

Unlike all too many political surveys that are really just hidden fundraising gimmicks, I plan to release the results with some commentary by the end of the week.

So if you haven’t weighed in yet, speak now or forever hold your peace.  We’ll be closing the survey down after close-of-business on Wednesday.

Here are the five questions…

  • Should Donald Trump run for president again in 2024?
  • How confident are you that Republicans will nominate a candidate who can beat Gov. Steve Sisolak in the 2022 general election?
  • Should conservatives recruit and support primary challenges to incumbent Republican legislators who vote with the Democrats too often?
  • Should the Nevada Republican Party re-elect Chairman Michael McDonald this fall or is it time for someone new?
  • What should I do in 2022?

About that 2020 Election “Audit”

If you’re like me, you’ve been following the election audit going on in Maricopa County, AZ and would like to see the same thing happen in Clark County, NV.

Not so much to relitigate the 2020 election – what’s done is done – but to identify problems and fix them before 2022 so the mess we had last year doesn’t happen again.  With that said…

The reason there’s an audit going on in Arizona is because the Republican-controlled State Senate ordered it.  Unfortunately, that won’t happen here in Nevada because the Democrats control both the State Senate and the State Assembly.

The other option would be to have the Clark County Commission order an audit.  But again, the seven Democrats on the commission aren’t about to do the right thing and call for one.

And no, before you ask, I checked…

There are currently no statutes or regulations in state law (Nevada Revised Statutes) that would allow the Nevada Secretary of State to demand or request a forensic audit similar to what is going on in Arizona.

So while I’ve long supported an audit, unless someone has an idea for how to force the Democrats to approve one, the reality is it ain’t gonna happen.  “Wishing” won’t make it so.  And as the prayer goes…

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and the Wisdom to know the difference.”

Again, if you have a realistic suggestion for how to make this happen, I’m all ears.  Shoot me an email to [email protected].
