(Annie Black) – On December 21st I wrote the following about the Democrats’ dead-of-night bill (AB4) during the special session back in August that completely undermined the security of our elections in Nevada…
“AB4 was sold to us as just an ‘emergency’ measure due to COVID-19, but you can bet some legislators are going to try to make these changes permanent. Instead, we should repeal AB4 in its entirety.”
Happy to report my conservative colleague, Republican Assemblyman Andy Matthews, plans to introduce just such a repeal bill, explaining recently to reporter Riley Snyder…
“Right now under our system, it’s designed in a way that makes it much, much easier than it should be to cheat if one wanted to. And so, we can go back and forth all day on, did no one cheat, did one person cheat, did 200,000 people cheat?
“We don’t know; no one knows; you don’t know; I don’t know. Because we have a system that’s designed in such a way that we can’t know. So my job as a legislator, it’s to make sure that we have the proper systems in place to make sure that we do have an election that’s secure.”
The bad news, however, is that Democrats control the Legislature and intend to make these “right to cheat” election changes permanent. Indeed, on Wednesday Assembly Speaker Jason Frierson announced his plan to do just that…
“In 2020, Nevada showed the country we are still a critical battleground state and Democrats showed we are willing to fight for every voter to be heard. … That is why, as we are just days into a new legislative session, I am sponsoring a bill to make expanded vote by mail permanent.”
And Democrats in Congress are trying to force similar dangerous changes on every state in the country. The Heritage Foundation and FreedomWorks detail some of the worst provisions of Nancy Pelosi’s HR1…
- Forces states to implement early voting, automatic voter registration, same-day registration, online voter registration, and no-fault absentee balloting.
- Requires states to automatically register all individuals on state and including many ineligible voters, and illegal immigrants.
- Requires states to allow 16-year-olds and 17-year-olds to register. Combined with a ban on voter ID, this would allow underage individuals to vote.
- Requires states to count ballots cast by voters outside of their assigned precincts, a recipe for election fraud.
- Forces states to accept absentee ballots received up to 10 days after Election Day.
- Legalizes “ballot harvesting.”
- Effectively bans state voter ID laws.
- Requires states to restore the ability of felons to vote the moment they are out of prison.
“This so jerry-rigs the election process,” observes Steve Moore of the Committee to Unleash Prosperity, “we wonder why, now that Democrats control all of the power in Washington, they don’t just outlaw elections altogether.”
Existing law in Nevada allows anyone to CHOOSE to vote-by-mail by requesting an absentee ballot. Automatically mailing ballots to people who don’t request them is a recipe for the disaster and will only continue to call the integrity of our elections into question.
Repeal AB4 and kill HR1.

QUOTES OF THE DAY
“H.R. 1 – which will likely be voted on by the House next week – would seize control of federal elections from the states and make it almost impossible to detect or prevent fraud. Speaker Nancy Pelosi has made it her personal crusade and has either convinced or intimidated every single House Democrat into co-sponsoring the bill.” – Steve Moore, Committee to Unleash Prosperity
“Democrats reintroduced as HR1 a voting and campaign-finance bill that would grease that Democratic voting machine nationwide and restrict political opposition. … HR1 imposes California-style election rules nationwide…with no concern for ballot integrity.” – Wall Street Journal
“(HR1) is one of the more bold-faced assaults on the First Amendment that has come through Congress in quite some time. … This will create chaos and, in many cases, leave the fate of our democracy in the hands of the most crafty electoral lawyers instead of the will of the people.” – Adam Brandon, FreedomWorks
“HR1 will change laws to make it almost impossible for conservatives/Republicans to ever win control of the White House, the Senate, or the House again. We don’t have months; only days/weeks to alert Americans to the evils of this bill and generate a massive outpouring of grassroots opposition to HR1.” – Richard Viguerie, American Target Advertising
