ON BILL OF RIGHTS DAY, ANNIE BLACK ANNOUNCES RUN FOR NEVADA ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 19
A Proven Conservative Fighter Takes On an Appointed Insider Who Voted for the Hollywood Handout
Mesquite, NV — On Bill of Rights Day, former Nevada Assemblywoman Annie Black announced she is running for the Nevada Assembly in District 19, saying the district deserves a representative who defends the Constitution, understands the job, and answers to voters — not political insiders.
“This race comes down to a simple choice,” Black said. “Do you want a fighter who believes government works for the people, or another appointed politician who goes along to get along?”
Black previously represented District 19 after winning election in 2020. She built a reputation as a constitutional conservative, a small business owner, and a legislator unafraid to challenge leadership when it mattered.
Her opponent, Jason Patchett, was appointed, not elected, and has already shown where he stands.
Just last month, Patchett voted for the controversial ‘Hollywood Handout’, a taxpayer-funded giveaway pushed through a rushed special session. The deal was opposed by conservatives across Nevada who questioned why hardworking families should subsidize out-of-state film studios.
“On Bill of Rights Day, I’m reminded that our rights don’t come from politicians,” Black said. “They come from God and are protected by the Constitution. That’s not something you learn from a law degree or a backroom appointment. It’s something you either believe or you don’t.”
Black contrasts her background as a small businesswoman and entrepreneur with Patchett’s career as a lawyer and political appointee. She says District 19 needs someone who understands paychecks, payroll, regulations, and what happens when government gets too big.
District 19 is overwhelmingly Republican, and Black argues the district deserves a representative who actually reflects Republican values.
“This is not the district for moderation, compromise, or rubber stamps,” Black said. “This is a district that believes in the Bill of Rights, limited government, and standing up to the political establishment — even when it’s uncomfortable.”
Black plans to campaign aggressively across the district, focusing on constitutional freedoms, fiscal restraint, parental rights, election integrity, and stopping government handouts to special interests.
“I didn’t come to Carson City to make friends,” Black said. “I came to do a job. And I’m running again to finish it.”
