You’re Probably Tired of Me Asking for Your Advice, But . . .

There’s an old saying that it’s a woman’s inalienable right to change her mind. And with that in mind, please share with me your thoughts on this:

Last month I announced that I was running for my old seat in the Nevada State Assembly. But right after the holidays, circumstances changed.

Nevada State Sen. Jeff Stone – a conservative mensch if there ever was one – announced he was retiring after decades of public service and would not be seeking re-election to his District 20 seat.

Which is the same Senate District as my Assembly District. And when circumstances change, sometimes you need to re-evaluate.

The other Assembly District in Sen. Stone’s district is currently represented by Assemblywoman Danielle Gallant, who announced today her intent to run for Sen. Stone’s seat.

Now here’s where things get interesting…

Gallant’s announcement was widely expected. And a lot of conservatives – including in my Assembly district – aren’t happy about Sen. Stone being replaced by a “go-along” establishment Republican who has…

      • Refused to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge

      • Voted for tax hikes

      • Voted to allow noncitizens as law-enforcement officers

      • Defended “Satan Clubs” in high schools

      • Championed assisted suicide

      • Voted to allow “remote voting” on the Hollywood handout bill

      • Attacked conservative Sen. Ira Hansen

      • Etc., etc., etc.

So a number of people have urged me to challenge Gallant in the GOP primary – including several high-level conservative activists and party leaders.

And I’m considering it. After all, I’d still be representing the voters of Assembly District 19…but in the Senate.

The race wouldn’t be a slam dunk. No race ever is. But what do you think? Should I stay (in the Assembly race) or should I go (for the Senate against Gallant)?

I apologize for imposing on your time and asking for your opinion yet again, but I’ve found some of the wisest counsel on important decisions I’ve had to make has come from supporters like you.
