Dems Threaten to Sue Unless Ballot Harvesting is Green-Lighted in Nevada

(Annie Black) – Democrats are threatening to wreck Nevada’s upcoming primary election the way Gov. Steve Sisolak has wrecked our state’s economy.  Get this…

On March 24th, Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske announced that the scheduled June 9 primary was being switched to an all-mail election (which, for the record, I disagree with) and that all active registered voters would automatically be mailed a ballot without having to request one.

In her press release explaining the decision, Secretary Cegavske made a number of key points…

* “The majority of Nevada’s poll workers belong to groups that are at high-risk for severe illness from COVID-19.  In order to maintain a high level of access to the ballot, while protecting the safety of voters and poll workers, the decision to conduct an all-mail primary election was made.”

* “In order to accommodate same-day voter registration, as well as assist voters who have issues with the ballot that was mailed to them, at least one in-person polling location will be available in each county for the June 9, 2020 primary election.  These polling locations will be set up to ensure the safety of voters and poll workers alike.”

* “Ballots that are postmarked by Election Day and received no later than seven days after the election will be counted.  Additionally, if a voter fails to sign the ballot return envelope or the voter’s signature does not match the one on file with the county election official, the voter will be contacted, and the voter will have up to the seventh day after the election to make the necessary correction.”

Democrats have been pushing hard for all-mail elections for a long time.

But give ‘em an inch and they’ll take a mile.  So it should come as no surprise that they’re now threatening to sue Nevada unless changes to Secretary Cegavske’s all-mail election procedures are made.

And you’re not going to believe what they’re demanding (actually, yes, you will).

In an April 10 letter to Secretary Cegavske and all 17 of Nevada’s county Clerks, ex-Clinton lawyer Marc Elias, and his Nevada mini-me, Bradley Schrager – on behalf of the Nevada State Democrat Party – claim a number of procedures announced for conducting the all-mail election violate the Constitution and Nevada election laws.

As such, they’re demanding a number of changes, including…

1.) Instead of having just one location open on Election Day to allow for same-day registration for anyone foolish enough to wait until the last minute, they’re demanding “more than just one in-person vote center per county.”

“Voting by mail is a sound system only when paired with meaningful opportunities to vote safely in person,” the attorneys wrote in the letter.

Unbelievable.  This, of course, defeats the entire stated reason for switching to an all-mail election; that is, “protecting the safety of voters and poll workers.”

This despite Gov. Sisolak declaring in his shutdown order that “Every social contact increases your risk of exposure” and despite Mr. Elias, just a week ago, declaring that opening polling locations in Wisconsin was a “national disgrace” that “may well cost lives.”

The sheer hypocrisy is stunning.

2.)  “Inactive” voters are voters who have been mailed a card by the Secretary of State and had the card returned because the voter no longer lives there.

As such, Secretary Cegavske will only be mailing mail-in ballots to “Active” voters.  After all, why spend the money to mail ballots to thousands of people we already know no longer live at the address where they’re registered.

Nevertheless, Democrats demand (they say “ask” in their letter, but when you threaten a lawsuit…it’s a demand) that “mail-in ballots be sent to ALL registered voters in Nevada, not just those in active status.”

Anyone want to guess why they want ballots mailed to people who no longer live where they said they lived?

3.)  They are demanding that “ballot harvesting” be allowed.

Ballot harvesting is when someone other than an immediate family member collects ballots and turns them in.  For example, someone could canvass a senior center and collect ballots rather than voters popping them in the mail – which certainly opens the process up to fraud, deception and coercion.

In fact, the San Francisco Chronicle noted that every House seat in Orange County, CA went to the Democrats in 2018 after 250,000 vote-by-mail drop-offs were counted.

“People were carrying in stacks of 100 and 200 of them,” Neal Kelley, the registrar for voters in Orange County told Fox News.  “We had had multiple people calling to ask if these people were allowed to do this.”

By law in Nevada…no.  But Democrats want Secretary Cegavske to change that, even though it would violate her oath of office to do so.

4.)  As if that’s not bad enough, get this one…

Arguing that election officials don’t have enough expertise to determine if the signature on a mail-in ballot matches the signature on file for the voter’s registration, they demand that no ballot be rejected because signatures don’t match.

“Signature matching is not needed to ensure the integrity of the election,” the lawyers maintain.

No voter ID.  No signature matching.  What could go wrong?

The reality is, these demands by Nevada Democrats are nothing short of a cynical attempt at voter suppression.  They hope this publicity stunt will sow enough distrust in the minds of voters about the integrity of the election that GOP voters will simply choose not to participate.

So what does my opponent, Assemblyman Chris Edwards – The Invisible Man – plan to do about this?

(*crickets*)

  1. Why the rush for vote by mail if not to CHEAT…we have 2 months before voting starts and 7 months before the big vote. These LIBTARDS know the only way to WIN is to CHEAT by mail in voting….the numbers don’t lie.
