(Annie Black) – I know I’ve been off the radar for the past few weeks – trust me, I wasn’t on vacation! – but before I bring you up to date on where I’ve been and what I’ve been up to, let’s talk about the VERY serious problem NASCAR faced yesterday at the Talladega Speedway in Alabama.
All things Talladega interest me since “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,” starring Will Ferrell, is one of my favorite all-time comedy movies.
Anyway, Sunday’s playoff race got rained out. It was re-scheduled for today. However, race officials were worried about the restart since rain was predicted again. (The race was just called due to rain as I write this.)
But that wasn’t their only worry…
At the conclusion of Saturday’s Xfinity Series race, drivers were interviewed on live TV by NBC. And the crowd of spectators could be heard in the background.
Now, that’s not unusual or usually a problem. You can hear crowd background noise during most live interviews at sports events. But what’s got NASCAR and NBC all worked up in a lather is WHAT could be heard coming from the crowd.
According to the Associated Press, NASCAR and NBC were in frantic discussions yesterday “on how to mitigate crowd ambiance” after race fans “chanted an expletive directed at President Biden that was picked up on air during winner Brandon Brown’s interview.”
It’s the same chant that’s been repeated by crowds at college football games, as well as other big events, for the past couple of weeks after Biden’s Afghanistan disaster.
The first word begins with an “F” and rhymes with “truck,” followed by “Joe Biden.” Got it?
The AP story continued…
“The race winner typically stops on the front stretch to collect the checkered flag and then do a live interview. The chants Saturday at Talladega…could be heard over Brown’s interview. Ideas being discussed were to move the interview away from the grandstand fence in an effort to diminish the ambient noise.”
The NBC interviewer, Kelli Stavast, claimed the crowd was actually chanting, “Let’s go, Brandon.” But no one bought it, and NBC ended up taking the video clip down from social media.
I know it’s not politically correct, but I think this is funny as heck.
Not just the live chant that Big Tech can’t block, but how the “fake news” media was again exposed for the lengths they’ll go to protect Biden.
Anyway, I just wanted to let y’all know I’m back in the saddle. Will have an update on the election integrity issue in the next couple of days.
