(Annie Black) – Saddle up, Annie’s Army!
Here are three issues you might want to weigh in on as we celebrate President’s Day today…
“Harry Reid” Airport Should Be Grounded
The Clark County Commission is expected to vote on a proposal to change the name of McCarran International Airport to Harry Reid International Airport at its meeting tomorrow. Some thoughts…
- This is a complete waste of time and money, especially in the midst of a virus epidemic and budget crisis
- Harry Reid is an exceptionally divisive political figure at a time when our state and nation are already deeply divided along partisan lines
- When the proposal was considered during the 2017 legislative session, the bill faced widespread, overwhelming opposition and was killed
- The only support for this proposal seems to be coming from political figures who have received favors from or made donations to Sen. Reid
- None of the seven Democrats on the county commission ran on this issue during their campaigns; they are blind-siding voters with it
- Any name change of such significance should only be made with a vote of the people to approve it
- If we’re going to change the name of McCarran International Airport at all, it should be changed to Las Vegas International Airport
If you agree, please contact the Clark County Commissioners TODAY to voice your opposition. Here are their email addresses…

Unchain the Doors to the Nevada Legislature
Section 4, Article 15 of the Nevada Constitution mandates: “The doors of each House shall be kept open during its session.” Yet, using COVID as an excuse, legislative leaders have banned Nevada’s citizens from entering the Legislature’s building even under reduced-capacity limits.
Casinos are open. Malls are open. Grocery stores are open. Drug stores are open. Walmart and Target are open. Restaurants and bars are open. Barbershops and hair salons are open. Gyms and tattoo shops are open. All with COVID precautions in place.
It seems the only workplaces still completely closed off to the public these days are the Legislature and Nevada’s legal brothels. (Insert your own joke here.)
If you think the Legislature should immediately be opened to the public under the same capacity restrictions and safety protocols as every other workplace in Nevada, please contact these legislative leaders…

Strip Out this Multicultural Mandate
A section of a bill introduced in the Assembly (AB19) would remove “Government” as a “core academic subject that must be taught” in all public schools and replace it with “Multicultural Education.”
Worse, the bill would force homeschoolers – who have opted out of the government school system and receive no financial support from taxpayers – to do the same.
If 2020 taught us anything, it’s that too many Americans know and understand too little about how our government is run and why. We should be increasing instruction on Government, not eliminating it.
If you agree, please contact the Chair of the Assembly Education Committee and voice your opposition to this section of AB19…
