(Annie Black) – First, today marks the one-year anniversary since I officially filed to run for the Nevada State Assembly – just four days before Gov. Sisolak shut the state down.
Some think, because of COVID, I picked a lousy time to run. And let’s face it, it’s been a challenge. But if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing.
Fact is, YOU made all the difference. Your calls, your texts, your emails, your social media posts. Whenever I get frustrated fighting the conservative fight under these circumstances…you buck me up.
So it’s OUR anniversary…and I want to thank you for the trust you’ve given me and your never-ending support. Now let’s get back to business…
Yesterday was the one-year anniversary of the governor’s “Declaration of Emergency” which resulted in turning our state, including the Las Vegas Strip, into a ghost town and confining Nevadans to virtual “house arrest.”
The “15 days to stop the spread” has stretched into 365. All with no firm end in sight. All without legislative approval.
While some states never shut down and others are now opening up at 100% capacity across the board, Gov. Sisolak refuses to Unlock Nevada and maintains his death grip on every aspect of our lives, our jobs, our schools, our churches and our economy.
And the devastation has been brutal. As the New York Times reported yesterday…
“No state’s workforce has been battered as badly by the coronavirus pandemic as Nevada’s, and people are especially struggling in Las Vegas.”
It’s just not right. It’s not constitutional. And it’s time to end.
In fact, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported today that…
“For the first time in six months, none of Nevada’s 17 counties have an elevated risk of COVID-19 transmission.”
Absolutely, the virus is still dangerous. But it’s no longer an “emergency” and hasn’t been for a long time – especially with thousands of Nevadans getting the vaccine every day thanks to President Trump’s “Operation Warp Speed.”
And unlike a year ago when COVID first hit us, we all know what precautions to take.
If you’re in a high-risk category or are still afraid of catching “the ‘rona,” you are perfectly free to remain in isolation until you feel safe. But for the rest of us, it’s time to move on and get back to our lives.
So on Friday I went on the floor of the Assembly and again called for the governor to come off his power trip and reopen our state.
Later in the day, we released our new video – “End This Lockdown” – which was produced by our friends at Harris Media (these guys are THE BEST!).
So we’re keeping the pressure on. And maybe, just maybe, it’s having an effect.
Shortly after we released the video, the governor issued a press release boasting that, thanks to his malevolence, we will now be allowed to start going to events again at 50% capacity.
Oh, thank you, sire!
However, the governor went on to explain…
“Large gatherings can only occur with approval.”
So we, the citizens of Nevada and grown adults, can only enjoy this limited gesture to get back to our lives and livelihoods if we say, “Mother, may I?”
It’s not right. It’s not constitutional. And it’s time to end.
Sure, fighting “the man” and his allies in the Legislature – both Democrats and some Republicans – has been like pushing the proverbial boulder up the side of Mt. Rose. But this is a fight that needs to be fought.
And I’m not quitting!

99.9 SURVIVAL RATE. I know it is politically correct to address Covid as compassion, but the whole thing is NWO bullshit. Not the virus but the Mandates are the Mutations.
