(Annie Black) – New election numbers for our Assembly District 19 race were posted this morning…
Annie Black: 2,955 (60.49%)
Chris Edwards: 1,930 (39.51%)
Our projection was that around 5,000 ballots would be cast.
4,885 have now been counted.
All that’s left are a few last-minute mail-in ballots that might still straggle in at the Election Department this week.
So turn out the lights; the party’s OVER!
You now have a new representative to watch your back in Carson City.
Of course, the results won’t be made “official” until June 19.
But unless another 1,000+ ballots come in between now and then…and they’re ALL for Chris…well, let’s just say Hillary Clinton has a better chance to become president of the United States.
Most media outlets had already called our race before today’s numbers came out. The Nevada Independent called our victory a “significant upset,” noting that…
“An incumbent losing in a legislative primary is relatively rare; only three incumbent legislators have lost their seats in a primary over the last two election cycles.”
Well now, make that FOUR!
While Mr. Edwards will still be representing us during the expected Special Session in a couple of weeks, I plan to be up there to keep an eye on things for you. And I’ll continue keeping your posted on developments right here in your AnnieGrams.
If you know anyone who should be added to our email list, let me know.
Again, thank you to everyone who helped us chalk up this huge upset victory. I’ll be back in touch soon.
